Parkview Preschool is a non-profit cooperative facility that provides theme-based, learning-through-play programming for 3-year and 4-year-old children.
Our goal is to provide developmentally appropriate, engaging, and stimulating activities that will enhance your child's social, emotional, physical, itellectual, and creative development. Our experienced teachers, with Early Childhood Education backgrounds, have created a bright and welcoming environment in which kind and thoughtful interactions, along with stimulating activities, will help to foster confidence, curiosity and empathy in your child.
Class Time: 8:50 AM - 11:20 AM
3-year class: Tuesdays and Thursdays
4-year class: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

The goals of our preschool involve achieving developmental milestones in the areas of:

Typical Classroom activities include but are not limited to:
Stories, singing, finger plays and group discussions during Circle Time
Physical activities either in gym or in the classroom
Crafts and art activities using a wide variety of materials
“Busy Bee” responsibilities and Share Time (on assigned days)
Free play with toys, small parts, puzzles, games, sensory materials, dramatic play, and manipulative/building materials
Kindergarten preparedness
Parents will walk their children to the door where they will be greeted by the teacher
Parents will remain outside during drop-off, but will come in the building to pick their children up at the end of the day.
Children will change their shoes and hang their coats and backpacks on their designated hooks (with the help of the teachers!).
The teachers will assist the children up the stairs, to the classroom, and everyone will wash their hands.
Children assemble on the carpet for attendance and to learn about the activities for the day. The current theme will be discussed with the children and everyone will have the opportunity to add to the discussion. A book related to our theme will be read
Center time for children to explore, cooperate, create and play, where teachers interact and support learning objectives
Snack time
As children finish snack, they will assemble on the carpet for songs and finger plays
Gym time – children regularly head downstairs to the gym for physical activity -dancing, sports, and games
Busy Bees – Our leader for the day & during the last 10 minutes of class, the “Busy Bee” has an opportunity to share something special about themselves.
At the end of class, the children will be released from the main door once a designated adult has arrived.
Our kind and experienced teachers, along with their thoughtful play-based planning, will inspire enthusiastic, life-long learners. Your child's development will be enhanced in the following areas by:
Developing new relationships with peers by connecting through daily activities and shared interests
Developing sharing and cooperation skills through interactions with peers
Developing problem-solving skills by using words to express feelings
Sharing ideas and thoughts and listening to others, during Circle Time discussions
Gaining confidence in speaking to others and answering questions on designated Busy Bee Share Times, and respectfully listening and asking questions during peers' Share Times
Adjusting to and navigating an environment away from home and family members
Overcoming shyness by taking risks and joining others in play
Developing/enhancing empathy through interactions with peers
Controlling tempers and tears through self-regulation
Gaining confidence to try new activities and feeling a sense of pride and achievement after learning (or enhancing) a new skill or activity
Gross motor development through games, exercises, and action songs
Fine motor development with drawing/colouring materials, scissor use, painting, etc., a variety of building/manipulative materials, and puzzles and games
Enhancing self-help skills by (eventually!) independently removing outerwear and donning indoor shoes at the beginning of the day and putting snack bags and art in backpacks at the end of the day
Establishing desirable health habits (e.g., hand-washing, "covering" coughs etc.)
Developing language and listening skills
Enhancing math, literacy, science, and numeracy skills, as these concepts are woven throughout the play experiences in the classroom
Increasing awareness of the world and the people around him/her
Being able to think for himself/herself and sharing ideas with a group
Understanding and enjoying holidays and seasonal times
Create art using different mediums (markers, crayons, glue, paint, playdough, etc.)
Providing opportunities to mimic an example, or create something completely original, during the daily craft activities, and in the open art area
Enhancing curiosity and imagination with the use dramatic play, table top activities and stories, and sharing ideas with others during these activities
